Hello,
I'm planning to do a full makeover for my PC, changing OS from Win 11 to a Linux derivate. This poses the following questions to me:
1. Does the Arcadia Launcher work with Linux in general?
2. Which Linux OS's will work / will NOT work?
3. Is there anythig special I need to know when using Arcadia with Linux?
4. Can you think of any question I should have asked here?
Thanks in advance!
Fabian

Hi, thanks for your questions.
CoA Launcher and the game client are officially Windows-focused, but we do allow running them through Wine, Lutris, or Proton. At the moment, we do not know any active players using Linux, so we cannot provide a confirmed list of working distributions or a tested setup. If you choose Linux, please treat it as an unsupported/experimental configuration: compatibility may vary, and launcher/game updates can break a previously working setup. We strongly recommend keeping a backup of your game folder and a Windows fallback (for example dual boot) in case troubleshooting is needed.
If you'll find a way please share it with us

As a further to this I have my own server side setup of Runes of Magic files which is considerably older than this.
As for running the client i have successfully run the Linux / windows sim Winwine on my own pc with Ubuntu 2025 on it. The client server works very well and I have my grandcchildren playing on it as sort of low level beta testers. They are using Ubuntu on laptops of varying styles and specs. So far I have had one connection issue that turned out to be a closed port on my server.
This has been going on now for 4 months at this time (Apr 25 2026) I have seen issues on some of their play when the lag gets a bit choppy due to winwines habits of bulk batch rather than a slower stream. I realise this is RoM and not CoA.
What Im proposing is to go with a new setup on a laptop (non gaming ) 16GB ram i5 and using Ubuntu latest version, see how it performs on the actual game servers. I get a good connection with server all the time (Ping 24 - 30 max) and ill see how the thing performs and add an update to this string.

Just as an update im at work shortly and have left a Ubuntu system connected to CoA and a MINT Laptop connected to CoA
Both are running a small movement macro and set on maximum video stats on a 6GB card in each system.
Im off work tomorrow and will have time to go through the conection logs and any errors that appear.
