How to farm rune pet egg?

Is there a guide or any suggestions on farming for rune pets eg how to increase the probability of getting a rune pet egg above any other type, the best place to farm, whether the level of the monster being killed has a bearing on the level of the egg, and so on? I tried luck and potions etc but only got 2 from a few hours farming over the last couple of days
