Why is there little - to no information on how class combinations "play" ?

  • It's an information desert. I understand there have been changes and some of the information online and Discord is outdated.

I also understand that there are not a billion CoA players out there. But I just want to know what playing a Warden/Mage will be like. I have some inkling about a Warden/Scout but I don't want to play Warden/Scout necessarily. I appreciate the Wiki...but...I want to quest and level as a Warden/Mage so that's kind of sparse. What I'd like to know is what does the Mage bring to the table? Buffs? ....like for Scout I understand there's actually a change to the Warden's Pet...a ranged version? Also people will say "you can do all the classes" so "don't worry" Well, maybe but right now I just need to level and play the game...and leveling a second class on top of the first is enough for now. So I kind of want to know a bit about the team I am going into the game with...

Anyway...I do plan on playing CoA a lot...so I am sure I will learn firsthand. ^^

    Hello

Welcome to Chronicles of Arcadia. We always seek to provide as much up to date information as possible, however for intricate details of classes we try to leave it to the players as typically they can provide way more detail than the team. If you're able to get to Lost Island of Atlantis, you can head to Itnal Camp. There you will find Cael Thorne, who will provide your character will all classes and equipment in temporary zone, which you can try all the classes out (as well as hit training dummies). Alternatively, the wiki has a full class skill list for every class (including elite skills). You can find that here.

Personally, I enjoy roleplaying as a paladin (a knight-priest). The skills in COA differ from those in ROM, which is a bit off-putting.

I also find there’s very little information available on the specific class combination that interests me ; sometimes skills get tweaked or nerfed, yet outdated information from before those changes remains online (that’s the trouble with the internet : knowledge sites often aren't up to date).

Even "CombatEngine" doesn't list my class combination.

My available in-game time has decreased. Almost all players aim to hit the level cap as quickly as possible because (in their view) the real game content only begins at max level. I haven't managed to find a group of players interested in slow progression through quests, so I play solo.

Sometimes I think about setting up my own private ROM server... but that’s a silly idea; I don't have the free time to dedicate to server management.

I think the best way for you to explore your class combination is to find a mentor (?sponsorship?) who plays and has mastered the same class as you.

  • Well I just got my Warden's second class, Mage, to level 10. I can see about 20 levels worth of stuff - about three ~ four will be very useful pre-level 20. I am not sure later on. It looks like - mostly the attack spells and damage buffs.

I am thinking eventually there will be enough confirmation so a "blurb" can be written about each particular class combination, ie:

That entry is from RoM's Wiki BUT I am not sure how much CoA has changed from that...

Ok, I saw the invitation to Itnal Camp but didn't realize I could actually test drive combinations! That is neat.
