Warrior Identity Crisis

  • I usually play warrior classes, but I can’t really figure out what I’m supposed to do in these kinds of games. Warriors are typically known for being slow but dealing high damage. However, when I play a warrior with chain gear, I notice that the damage I take is very similar to what I take when playing rogue classes with leather gear.

Honestly, I don’t even know which class I should be playing. It feels like every class has its own problems.

Right now, the classes that seem to actually perform decently for me are → W/WD, K/WL, W/R, and DR/W.

But when I look at my gear, I see that a friend with much lower gear — like 200–300 gear score below mine — does way more damage as a mage. Sure, mages are supposed to hit hard, but it feels ridiculous that someone with much lower gear can deal three times my damage.

Apparently, everyone on the server thinks the same way — there are only mages and rogues, no one really plays warrior. I’d really appreciate it if someone could explain this to me or help me understand what’s going on.

  • Welcome to CoA. This is class balance... yeah some classes has good performing at the beginning or in solo scenarios. But overall mages deal more damage than chain or leather classes, because they are balanced, redesigned, adjusted etc. You could try champion class combination if rather play chain or even rogue/warden. I hope there will be some class change in near future, maybe before new uni release.

  • Actually, CH is among the classes I mentioned above too — it feels like all STR-based classes have problems. Just today, I saw two people wanting to switch their chain gear to leather because people don’t want to play STR classes anymore; they say the damage just isn’t there.

  • Elo,

as far as I know, magical classes scale way better in early/mid game (or warriors scal very badly, same result I guess)... Also mages at least "appear" to be the best classes overall, bcz they can synergize quite well, like by combining certain elemental types and minmaxing on them, that's kind of unique for magical classes atm.. if you have 2 mdps players, they can coordinate themselves and play classes that synergize well to get them another x20% bonus or so 😱

A mage myself, I can recommend you to sell your chain gear and get cloth, so you can play W/M which is one of the most fun classes I ever played. You have decent survivability, high movement speed (while on max rage stacks) and deal really good damage (not as good as some other classes but still decent)... compared to most other classes, mdps (all proper INT classes) are the most flexible and dynamic ones, bcz you can play so many different main classes (like warden, warrior, scout, priest, druid, champ, warlock and mage ofc), so it feels like playing the class you used to play forever.. in the very past I was playing scout, then transitioned into scout/warlock and scout/mage, now playing all magical classes and never looked back again...

However, there were balance changes announced somewhat in the past and I think it's also shown in the recent roadmap, so things might change...

yeah welcome to coa class balance, TLDR Magical balancing and tank/healer balance is quite good while physical balancing well.... lets better not talk about this :D
