how do i get addons for the game installed onto my client, any links to explain how to get them installed will be very appreciated.

In first order, you should always check if certain addon is available for Chronicles of Arcadia, so it will be for sure working, not freezing or being laggy like some non dedicated versions:

https://www.curseforge.com/rom/addons
Basically all you have to do is download .zip, and unpack it to /interface/addons/ (create directory if you don't have it) like this:
Make sure you won't do this - it won't work or will cause issues with crashing interface.
Alternatively you can use Twitch App (from CurseForge), but it is getting soon migrated out of Twitch so probably this way is not recommended right now.
